Photography-led tours through South Africa's Western Cape
Photography Tours - Garden Route, Cape Town & Beyond...
Who We're For
Photographers & Enthusiasts
“It starts before sunrise, with dew on the tent and mist still settled over the bush. Game roams freely as our field guides track the Big Five across land barely changed in thousands of years. Later, the terrain shifts into something older still — rock art, ruins, and cultural sites where you walk through history rather than read about it…”

FAQ
Before We depart
Do I need to be an experienced photographer to join?
Not at all. Our tours welcome everyone from complete beginners to working pros. What matters more than gear or experience is a genuine interest in photography and a willingness to get up early for good light. We tailor guidance to where you’re at and if you want assistance – our photography tours are not workshops. If you are looking for a workshop – then check out our available workshops here.
Can non-photographers (partners, friends) join?
Yes, the tours are as much about the photography as it is about the experience. Non-photographers can join in for all the activities.
Is there an age requirement or fitness minimum?
Participants must be 18+. If you are adding an adventure component to your tour, we recommend a reasonable baseline fitness level. We can also customise your itinerary to accommodate specific fitness levels.
Are your tours suitable for senior citizens?
Absolutely, we cater for all ages over 18+ and our itineraries can be designed around your preferences and physical capabilities.
What camera equipment should I bring?
A camera you’re comfortable operating (mirrorless, DSLR, or advanced compact) plus a versatile zoom lens covers most situations. For Wildlife days, a longer telephoto (300mm+) makes a real difference. For Adventure/landscape days, a wide-angle lens and a sturdy, lightweight tripod are useful. We send a detailed gear list specific to your itinerary after booking.
Is this a guided sightseeing trip, or will I actually learn something?
An educational component is entirely optional and not forced upon any guest. Beginners will be assisted one-on-one to ensure they can capture the best possible photos for their experience level. Our photographers will advise and offer guidance on settings, composition, framing and other aspects of outdoor photography. This could be in the form of a general briefing on general best settings at each site or individually one-on-one out in the field. If you are looking for a more formal tuition based experience, consider checking out our available workshops here.
How is a "tour" different from a "workshop"?
A workshop is more structured, with scheduled lessons around a specific skill. Our tours are more fluid and in the moment. You’re immersed in culture, wildlife, and terrain, and instruction happens organically as opportunities or questions arise. No one is going to want to listen to talks about metering modes when behind your photographer is a family of Lions chasing a Gazelle at the same time 🙂
Will you help with editing and post-processing, not just shooting?
Yes, this normally happens during our downtime in the evenings where it is possible. The focus is not software specific or around how to use your software but around core concepts and fundamental techniques. Editing principles are the same regardless of your choice of software. There are many roads to achieve the same result.
How many people are in each group?
We focus on keeping our groups small – we accommodate a maximum of 6 persons per group.
How much walking or hiking is involved?
Depends on the tour — some are gentle and accessible, others involve serious elevation gain and multi-hour trekking days. We can design an itinerary around your physical capabilities or group limiations.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We don’t cancel for rain, fog, or clouds. In some areas the weather can change from one minute to the next. However, itineraries are built with flexibility so we can adjust timing or consider alternative locations if necessary.
How far in advance should I book?
If you are planning on traveling during peak season (Dec – Jan) – earlier would be advised as our available slots fill up quickly.
What's the deposit and cancellation policy?
We require the full-amount to be paid 24 hours prior to departure. A 50% deposit is payable up front to secure your date.
You may cancel your reservation 30 days before the departure date of the tour for a full refund.
Any cancellation within 30 days and up to 24 hours before the departure date of the tour will be charged the paid deposit.
Any cancellation within 24 hours or no show will be charged 100% of the full price.
If the tour is canceled due to bad weather or breakdown, we will refund your booking.
Once the tour has started, no refund for any unused portion or part of the tour or services to be provided will be given. If you want to make any changes to the tour, or depart the tour early, such alteration or departure will be entirely at your own expense and liability.
