Midday Madness at Glentana Shipwreck in George

In November 1902, the SS Baralong was towing a massive floating dock to Durban when fierce winds and heavy seas caused the towing lines to fail. The dock eventually beached near Glentana on the Garden Route, where it still lies today — over a century later.

You can reach this historic shipwreck with a scenic 2km walk east from Glentana Beach, best done at low tide. Be prepared for rock jumping and wet shoes – just embrace it.

Knee deep in water – makes for an exciting (stressful) shoot. Well worth it!
